AREAS OF CONSULTING

SPECIALIZING IN

  • Accident Analysis

  • Product Testing

  • Design Evaluation

Vehicle Accident Reconstruction

Inspection of vehicles and accident sites for determination of vehicle speeds, location of impact, directions of travel, origin of skid and gouge marks, driver lookout and reaction, air bag deployment data analysis, avoidability, vehicle factors, highway factors, or driver identification.

Motor Vehicle Testing

Laboratory and field testing to evaluate the safety and performance of automobiles, trucks, buses, motorcycles, all terrain vehicles, and snowmobiles.  Determination of whether a vehicle defect or malfunction was a contributing factor in causing an accident or injury.

Documentation of Event or Preservation of Evidence

Attendance at an event or examination at the scene of an occurrence to provide a permanent record by notes and measurements, still photography, or videotape.  Preparation of scale drawings, display models, or videotapes as required.

Roadway and Railway Accident Analysis

We have extensive experience in the evaluation of design, construction, maintenance, signing, and signaling of roads and construction zones.  We also specialize in the analysis and reconstruction of accidents involving potential defects at railroad crossings and accidents investigated by the National Transportation Safety Board.

Vehicle Lighting and Bulb Analysis

Determination of nighttime visibility and conspicuity.  Evaluation of whether headlights, brake lights, or signal lights were operating at the time of a collision.

Motor Vehicle Fire Cause and Origin Analysis

Investigation and analysis of vehicle systems and external sources to determine fire causation and point of origin.

Seat Belt Analysis

Evaluation of the movement of an unrestrained occupant due to impact forces.  Determination of whether use of a restraint system would have reduced or prevented interior contact, injury, or ejection.

Industrial and Agricultural Accident Reconstruction and Testing

Analysis of accident sequence and determination of whether a defect or malfunction caused or contributed to the occurrence.  Identification of maintenance, environmental, and operator factors.  Laboratory and field testing to determine the safety and performance of industrial and agricultural equipment.

Consumer Product Evaluation

Laboratory and field testing to determine the relationship of product design and performance to accidents in products such as lawn mowers, power tools, and mechanical devices.

Failure Analysis

Inspection and testing of assemblies and component parts to determine the cause of a failure.  Determination of the presence of defects and identification of operator and environmental factors.

Product Research

Determination of state-of-the-art and state-of-the-industry by literature search or product surveys.  Research of codes, standards, and recommended practices.
